Metal’s Academy: a project for the future

When we inaugurated Metal’s Academy in 2022, we knew it would become a cornerstone of our company and an important lever for the future: having trained and skilled people is, - and will remain - the key to mastering new technologies and innovative solutions, thus continuing to serve companies across different markets with increasingly customized needs.

In fact, it is precisely in the spaces dedicated to our training center that we welcome new hires before they immerse themselves in the production departments. It is also at Metal’s Academy that we organize refresher courses for those who have been working with us for many years.

The origins of the project: creating an academy for new Metal’s employees

Metal’s Academy was established to train new hires before they join the production departments and is part of a broader vision of development and inclusion that our company has been pursuing for several years. In fact, in 2022, alongside the launch of the academy, we also started the "Progetto Sud" (South Project), aimed at facilitating the recruitment of new resources from various Italian regions, particularly Sicily.

To support their relocation to the Borgoricco area, in the province of Padua – where Metal’s is headquartered – we provided housing and comprehensive logistical support. This enabled many people to train directly at Metal’s Academy before joining the welding, bending, and preliminary processing departments.

In 2023, we expanded our hiring efforts, focusing especially on those already living in our province, by offering more flexible working hours - 30 hours per week over 6 days - through the “6-days project.” This initiative mainly attracted women coming from companies in other sectors within our area, who found new professional and growth opportunities at Metal’s. After a training period in the Academy, many of them were permanently integrated into the production departments, bringing new energy and motivation to the company. This was an important milestone we are proud of, especially considering that the industrial sector has historically been male-dominated.

Satisfied with the results achieved through this training path, we then decided that all new hires must first enter Metal’s Academy before moving to the production departments. But we didn’t stop there - today, the training center also organizes courses dedicated to Metal’s long-standing employees.

From training new hires to continuous development

Metal’s has invested – and continues to invest – in new technologies that allow us to recommend more efficient solutions to our clients to reduce business costs and provide a service covering the entire logistics process. However, these technologies require constant updating. It is precisely in the classrooms of Metal’s Academy that even long-standing staff can enhance their skills, combining practical experience with the theory needed to master the new machinery and equipment we have adopted.

Over the years, the project has evolved.

While Metal’s Academy was initially designed exclusively to train new hires, it has gradually become a permanent unit within the company. And whereas we initially relied on external trainers, today we have an internal coordinator who also serves as an instructor for new recruits.

Our training coordinator manages the entire training path and the continuous updating of the existing staff through courses designed to fill any skill gaps and improve technical expertise and technological innovation. This approach ensures that everyone, in every department, can grow together and maintain the high-quality standards that distinguish Metal’s in the market.

Training at Metal’s is always both theoretical and practical

The training program, both theoretical and practical, today as in 2022, focuses on the most critical and complex technologies in the company, including laser cutting – one of the most advanced solutions in steel processing – high-precision bending, and stainless steel stamping. During the training, participants are supported by experienced tutors who guide them step by step through the understanding of processes, machines, and operational methods.

The underlying idea is to create a true bridge between theory and practice: to provide technical skills while also conveying the company culture and the value of teamwork.

This way, new employees learn not only how to work at Metal’s but also why we have chosen to operate in this way. Indeed, our goal is not to be mere suppliers but true partners to our clients, able to offer innovative and improved solutions right from the design phase, taking care of the entire logistics process.

A mission that, in turn, involves every department and every person working within the company.

Metal's Academy

Investing in people to build the future

Metal’s Academy was created to ensure quality and excellence, transfer know-how, and create new professional opportunities in Italy - especially here, in our surrounding area, the province of Padua.

But the Academy is not just a project focused on today; it is part of our response to the challenges faced by the industrial sector, foremost among them the shortage of qualified labor, which is becoming increasingly difficult to find and develop as experienced workers approach retirement.

Ensuring the continuous transfer of skills, generational renewal, and the sustainability of the production model that has allowed us to grow over the years is a strategic pillar for us in facing the future.
